BEACH VOLLEYBALL MOVES ITS HOME FACILITY TO FOLSOM’S LIVERMORE PARK

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- After playing its home matches the previous three seasons at the Sacramento Softball Complex, the Sacramento State beach volleyball program will now call Folsom's Livermore Community Park its home facility.

Livermore Community Park, which is about a 20-25 minute drive from Sacramento State's campus, features four lighted beach volleyball courts. Admission will be free to all matches, and spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs and blankets. Outside food and drinks will be permitted.

The Hornets have a home-heavy schedule in 2016 as the team will play 11 home matches at Livermore Park, while also hosting four round robin tournaments.

Sacramento State's home opener, and the debut of Livermore Park as the team's facility, will take place against Cal on Saturday, March 12, at 10 a.m. Four matches will be played that day in a mini round-robin tournament that also includes San Francisco and Santa Clara.

The Hornets have a four-match homestand from March 12-19, and a seven-match homestand from April 8-16. Round robin home tournament dates, schedule and the teams competing are included below.

March 12 - Sacramento State, Cal, Santa Clara, San Francisco
March 19 - Sacramento State, Cal, Saint Mary's, San Jose State
April 8-9 - Sacramento State, Washington, New Mexico, San Jose State, CSU Bakersfield
April 16 - Sacramento State, Pacific, Boise State, Cal Poly

The Hornets open the season at a round robin tournament hosted by Stanford on March 5-6. Sacramento State will play 19 regular season matches (11 at home) before competing at the Big West Conference Tournament on April 29-30 in Long Beach. The Hornets are entering their first year in the Big West for beach volleyball.

Sacramento State's beach roster includes 16 players (15 of which played this past fall on the indoor squad). The Hornets welcome freshman Mikaela Nocetti, who transferred from Portland after playing the 2015 indoor season with the Pilots. Nocetti is a local product who starred at Sacramento's El Camino High School and was named the Sacramento Bee's Prep Volleyball Player of the Year as a senior.
