SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- For the 11th straight year, the Hornet women's rowing squad will compete at the Lake Natoma Invitational this weekend at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center. Racing will take place on Saturday morning and afternoon, as well as Sunday morning. Sacramento State and Cal are co-hosting the event.

The nine-team regatta features a powerhouse lineup that includes four teams ranked among the nation's top crews (#2 Cal, #3 Stanford, #6 Brown, #12 USC) in the latest USRowing/CRCA Coaches top 20 poll. Sacramento State, Gonzaga, Notre Dame, Miami and Tulsa will also compete at the event.

Saturday's racing features a morning (9:00 a.m.-10:40 a.m.) and afternoon (3:15 p.m.-5:20 p.m.) session. Sunday's schedule will last from 8:00-9:30 a.m. A complete schedule of both days can be found by clicking on the link above the story or by clicking here. All boats were placed into groups, and will compete against different teams in each round of racing. Sacramento State will compete boats in the varsity eight, second varsity eight, third varsity eight, varsity four and second varsity four categories at the regatta.

The Hornets' varsity eight will compete twice on Saturday, including 10:10 a.m. vs. Stanford and Gonzaga. The Hornets' top boat returns later in the day at 5:00 p.m. to compete against Brown and Notre Dame. The varsity eight races for the final time on Sunday at 9:30 a.m. against Miami and Tulsa.

Sacramento State's second varsity eight will compete Saturday at 9:40 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.,  and Sunday at 9:00 a.m. The team's varsity four will race on Saturday at 9:10 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., and Sunday at 8:30 a.m. Sacramento State's third varsity eight will compete in a heat on Saturday at 3:15 p.m., and will automatically be slotted into Sunday's grand final at 8 a.m. The second varsity four will race in Saturday's heat at 10:40 a.m., and, based on that performance, will be slotted into a petite or grand final on Saturday afternoon at either 5:10 or 5:20 p.m.

This weekend will mark the first of just two remaining home regattas on Sacramento State's schedule. The Hornets will also host the WIRA Championships on April 27-28 at Lake Natoma. This year's American Athletic Conference Championship will take place in Oklahoma City (May 19), and the NCAA Championships are in Indianapolis (May 31-June 2). The Hornets will also race at UC Davis on May 4.
