FOSTER CITY, Calif. -- The Sacramento State women's rowing squad combined for two silvers and a bronze in its three races at the Head of the Lagoon Sunday morning at Leo J Ryan Park.
Sunday's racing took place on a five-kilometer course with a time trial format. Sacramento State competed three boats in the collegiate novice eight event (11-boat field), two entries in the open four (16-boat field) and one in the novice four (7-boat field). The Hornets placed second, third and eighth, respectively, in the collegiate novice eight, second in the novice four, and sixth and seventh in the open four.
In the collegiate novice eight, Stanford rowed to a winning time of 20:38, followed by Sacramento State's A boat (21:20) and B boats (21:52) to round out the top three spots. The Hornet C boat's eighth place time was 24:17.
The Stanford Lightweight crew placed first in the open four with a time of 20:35 followed by a pair of Saint Mary's entries to round out the top three. The Hornets' A boat placed with a time of 21:23 while the B boat was seventh at 21:47.
In the novice four, Saint Mary's placed first with a time of 21:53 followed by Sacramento State (22:15) to round out the top spots in the seven-boat field.
The Head of the Lagoon wraps up Sacramento State's fall schedule, and the Hornets do not compete again until they scrimmage Cal and Minnesota on March 1, and open the spring season on March 15 at the Sacramento State Invitational.
