MEN’S TENNIS CO-HOSTS THE GOLDEN STATE INVITATIONAL FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. -- For the second straight year, the Hornets will co-host the Golden State Invitational this Friday through Sunday on the Sacramento State campus tennis courts.

Sacramento State is co-hosting the event with UC Davis, and the tournament will feature eight teams with a total of 12 matches played over three days. Six of those matches will be on Sacramento State's campus (two on Friday, Saturday and Sunday), and the other six will be on UC Davis' campus. Admission to all matches is free.

Tournament participants include Sacramento State, UC Davis, Nevada, Grand Canyon, Northern Colorado, Portland, New Mexico State and Saint Mary's. Each team will play three matches over the three-day event.

On Friday, in Sacramento, Grand Canyon will take on Nevada at 10 a.m., and the Hornets will face Northern Colorado at 2 p.m. On UC Davis' campus courts, Friday's schedule includes Portland taking on New Mexico State at 10 a.m., and UC Davis squaring off with Saint Mary's at 2 p.m.

Depending on Friday's outcomes, the schedule will be set for Saturday with matches taking place on both campuses at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. On Sunday, UC Davis will host the third place match (9 a.m.) and the championship match (1 p.m.) while Sacramento State will host the seventh place (9 a.m.) and fifth place (12 p.m.) matches.

Last year, in the inaugural Golden State Invitational, UC Davis defeated Portland, 4-3, in the championship match while Sacramento State went 2-1 at the event.
