FARMINGTON, Utah — Casey Leebrick was named the Big Sky Conference co-Men's Golfer of the Week, it was announced today. The honor is the first for Leebrick in his career.
Competing at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Leebrick tied for second place after shooting 72-70-67-209 to finish 7-under par. His final round consisted of six birdies and just one bogey and was tied for the 19th lowest in program history. Leebrick also matched his collegiate best of 67 which came last season at the Montgomery Cup while he competed for York College (Pa.). The San Luis Obispo, Calif., native's 54-hole total of 209 easily surpassed his previous best of 216.
Leebrick came to the Hornets after one season at York College where he was the Capital Athletic Conference champion after shooting 74-71-72-217. During the season, he averaged 74.38 in 21 rounds.
Jack Castiglia of Northern Colorado shared the Big Sky honor with Leebrick this week. Castiglia also shot 209 and had a third-round score of 67 while competing at the Ram Master Invitational.
Sacramento State will next travel to the Nick Watney Invitational in Fresno, Calif., on Sept. 30-Oct. 1.
