The Sacramento State men’s golf team doubled its entries to the upcoming US Amateur as Joe Fowler finished first at the qualifying event at Lake Spanaway Golf Course in Tacoma, Wash. on July 16. Fowler shot 67-64-131 to finish one stroke ahead of the closest competitor and earn one of two spots to the prestigious tournament which will be held at Pinehurst on Aug. 11-18 in North Carolina. Fowler’s performance comes after Riley Bell finished second at the qualifying tournament at Ranch Murieta Country Club on July 8.
With rounds of 69 and 71, Sacramento State’s Riley Bell finished second at the US Amateur Qualifying tournament at Rancho Murieta Country Club on July 8. Bell’s total of 140 left him at 2-under par for the tournament and earned him one of two berths to the US Amateur which will take place at Pinehurst on Aug. 11-18 in North Carolina.
Jeff Carr set the Big Sky Championship single-round record and tied the second-best all-time score by a Sacramento State golfer after shooting 63 in the final round of the Big Sky Championship. The score lifted Carr into a tie for second place overall and left him just one stroke off the medalist.

Led by an even par round of 72 from Jeff Carr, the Sacramento State men’s golf team concluded the El Macero Classic in 14th place after shooting 305 in the final round on Sunday. The Hornets totaled 315-298-305-918 over the three-day event.

The seventh annual Sacramento State Invitational returns to Valley Hi Country Club on Mon.-Tue., March 4-5. The first day is scheduled for 36 holes with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with a single round which will also have a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
