MEN'S GOLF CONCLUDES PLAY AT THE KA'ANAPALI COLLEGIATE CLASSIC

LAHAINA, Hawaii — Jeff Carr shot 72 and Devyn Fitchhorn added a 73 to lead the Sacramento State men's golf team during the final round of the Ka'anapali Collegiate Classic on Sunday.

The Hornets shot 298 during the third round and finished the 21-team tournament in 17th place with a total of 287-303-298-888. LSU, which is ranked 12th nationally, maintained its lead to win the tournament by seven strokes. The Tigers (821) were followed by fellow SEC member South Carolina (828). Cal (829), Kansas (833) and Houston (842) completed the top five.

Carr opened play with four consecutive pars before a birdie on the par-5 first. He returned to even with a bogey on the fourth. The freshman stayed even through the 10th hole with a birdie on the par-5 sixth and a bogey on the par-3 eighth. He wrapped up his tournament with a birdie on the par-4 11th and a double bogey on the par-4 12th to take him to 1-over. Carr shot 71-85-72-228 to finish the tournament in 94th place.

Fitchhorn tied for 36th overall at 70-73-73-216 to stand at 3-over par. On Sunday, he was 1-under through his first 13 holes. He had a bogey on his second hole (par-4 14th) and added birdies on Nos. 16 and 1. After six pars, the sophomore bogeyed the par-3 eighth and closed with a double bogey on the par-4 12th.

Eric Olsem ranked third on the team during the round after shooting 75. The sophomore had just one bogey on his first seven holes and returned to even with a birdie on the par-4 third. He moved to 3-over following a bogey on No. 4 and a double bogey on No. 5. Olsem then birdied the par-5 sixth but added bogeys on the par-3 eighth and par-5 ninth.

Zach Liberatore and Zak Sievers each shot 78 to complete the scores toward the team total. Liberatore  had a birdie, six bogeys and a double bogey in his third round. Sievers had a birdie, three bogeys, a double bogey and a triple bogey.

Ash Patel, who was competing as an individual, shot 77 and tied for 49th overall. Patel had a birdie, four bogeys and a triple bogey on Sunday.

The tournament was the final event in the fall for Sacramento State. The team will return to action at the Waves Challenge on Jan. 29-30.
