MEN'S GOLF FINISHES 12TH AT FRESNO STATE CLASSIC

FRESNO, Calif. — The Sacramento State men's golf team shot 308 in the final round of the Fresno State Classic on Tuesday to finish 12th. The Hornets were led by junior Owen Taylor who recorded his third consecutive round of 74.

Taylor parred his first four holes of the day before a double bogey on the par-4 5th. He made the turn at 4-over following a pair of bogeys and remained there until a birdie on the par-5 12th dropped him to 3-over. Three more pars came before a bogey on the par-3 16th and he ended his day with a birdie on the par-5 18th.

Luke Kristo shot 76 on Tuesday and tied for 35th in the tournament (75-76-76-227). Kristo birdied the par-4 1st but bogeyed his next three holes. He finished with 11 pars and three bogeys over his final 14 holes.

Freshman Robert Parden also tied for 35th after shooting 71-77-79-227. Parden's third round consisted of birdies on the par-3 11th and the par-4 14th. However, he also had four bogeys and three double bogeys.

Jordan Swanson tied for 51st and Riley Hayfield and Alex Gibbs shared 73rd place. Swanson had two birdies, eight pars, seven bogeys and a triple bogey during his third round. Hayfled had nine pars, eight bogeys and a double bogey and Gibbs had one birdie, 11 pars and six bogeys.

UC Santa Barbara shot 287 as a team in the final round to win the team title with a total of 873. Nevada, which led following the first day, placed second at 875. BYU (887), Loyola Marymount (891) and San Francisco (891) completed the top five.

Jordan Epstein helped UCSB's charge with a third-round 68. Epstein concluded the tournament at 73-73-68-214 to become the medalist by one stroke.

Sacramento State will next be in action at the Lone Star Invitational in San Antonio, Texas beginning on March 24.
