Swanson shot 38  on the front side of the course with a birdie on the par-4 sixth, five pars and three bogeys.

Freshman Aaron Beverly contributed a round of 75. Beverly was even at the midway point of his round and remained there through his first 12 holes. Bogeys on three of his next four holes were followed by two pars to finish at 3-over.

Eric and Owen Taylor each shot 77. Owen began with an eagle on the par-5 10th and added four straight pars. Those holes were trailed by three consecutive bogeys and a par to give him 37 at the turn. He began the front side with four more pars before bogeying Nos. 5 and 7. A double bogey on the par-3 8th hole moved him to 5-over on the round.

Eric was even through his first nine holes with two birdies and two bogeys. His final nine holes consisted of a birdie, four pars, three bogeys and a double bogey.
