With just three games remaining in the regular season, Sacramento State (13-13, 7-10) will play its final home contest Saturday night vs. Idaho State (5-22, 4-13)…tip-off at the Nest is 7:05 p.m…Saturday will also be Senior Night, as Hornet seniors , , and will be honored for their contributions to the program…senior has not played all season because of a back injury, and will be back next year in the Green and Gold if the injury heals adequately…Saturday also happens to be the biggest game of the season for Sacramento State in the team's quest to qualify for the Big Sky Tournament for the first time since the 2005-06 season…the top seven teams in the 11-member league qualify for the Big Sky Tournament (March 14-16), and if the season ended today, the Hornets would be out…Sacramento State is currently eighth in the standings, but just a half game behind seventh-place Northern Colorado (8-10) and a game behind three teams that are 8-9 (Montana State, Southern Utah and Northern Arizona)…the Hornets will likely need to win two of their final three games to have an opportunity to reach the Big Sky Tournament, making Saturday night as close to a must-win situation as possible…Idaho State, which sits in last place in the league standings, was eliminated from Big Sky Tournament contention with its loss Thursday night at Northern Arizona…the Hornets will also try to avoid dropping below the .500 mark for the first time all season…Sacramento State's 13 wins ties for the second most in the team's Div. I era (1991-pres.), and only trails the 2005-06 squad's high water mark of 15 victories…with a win on Saturday, the Hornets would finish the home schedule with a 10-4 record, which would match the team's best mark inside the Nest during the Div. I era (the 2003-04 and 2004-05 squads went 10-4 at home)…a win on Saturday would also match the team's most Big Sky wins (8 in 2004-05) in any season since joining the league in 1996-97…Sacramento State could just as easily be 11-6 in conference play if not for four one-point losses against league opposition…Idaho State is 1-14 on the road this season, and has dropped six straight on the road…the Hornets are 14-26 all-time against Idaho State, and 7-12 when playing in Sacramento…Saturday's contest can be seen live and free on Big Sky TV…the game can also be heard over the airwaves in the foothills on KAHI 950 AM and on www.hornetsports.com with play-by-play announcer Steve McElroy calling the action…live stats can be found by clicking here.
