FOOTBALL HITS NEW HIGH, RANKED FOURTH IN BOTH FCS POLLS

STATS FCS Media Poll

AFCA Coaches Poll

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team was voted fourth in the both the STATS FCS media poll and the AFCA FCS coaches poll. The rankings are the highest a Hornet team has been in either poll in the school's Div. I era. Sacramento State has now been ranked for six consecutive weeks, including the last five in the top 25.

Sacramento State cruised to a 31-7 win at Idaho last Saturday behind a powerful ground game and a stingy defense which limited the Vandals to just 194 yards of total offense. The win improved the team to 8-3 overall and 6-1 in the Big Sky Conference. The eight overall victories were the most for the team since moving to Div. I in 1994 and the highest total since the 1991 team went 8-2 while competing at the Div. II level. The Hornets' six Big Sky wins also tie the school record which came in 2017.

Sacramento State will close its regular season on Saturday, Nov. 23, against UC Davis in the 66th Causeway Classic presented by Pepsi. The game will kick off at 2 p.m. Prior to the start, the Hornets will honor its 16 seniors.
