FOOTBALL JUMPS TO SIXTH IN BOTH POLLS FOR HIGHEST FCS RANKING IN SCHOOL HISTORY

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Sacramento State football team moved up one spot in the STATS FCS media poll and two spots in the AFCA FCS coaches poll, it was announced today. The Hornets are now sixth in each poll for the highest ranking in school history.

Sacramento State most recently defeated Cal Poly, 38-14, to improve to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in the Big Sky Conference. The Hornets were ranked seventh in the media poll and eighth in the coaches poll last week and moved past Villanova who was upset by Stony Brook.

Among the four Big Sky teams currently ranked, Sacramento State is second behind No. 3 Weber State and ahead of No. 8 Montana and No. 14 Montana State. UC Davis, Northern Arizona and Portland State are also receiving votes.

The Hornets will host Weber State in a battle for first place on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m. at Hornet Stadium.
