THOMSON, MEDEIROS NAMED PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State quarterback Kevin Thomson and kicker Devon Medeiros each earned player of the week awards following the team's 49-22 win over No. 5 Montana at Saturday.  Thomson was named the FCS National Offensive Player of the Week by STATS as well as College Sports Madness. He also was the Big Sky Conference Co-Offensive Player of the Week. Medeiros was named the Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

Thomson accounted for six touchdowns as he threw for four and rushed for two against the Grizzlies. Thomson completed 24-of-34 passes for 369 yards in the win. He has now had 5-plus touchdowns (pass and rush) in three consecutive games.

On Saturday, he connected with seven different receivers, including eight completions to both Pierre Williams and Elijah Dotson who each went over 100 yards. Each of his four touchdown passes went to different receivers with tosses of 44, 16, 40 and 39 yards. Thomson also rushed for 50 yards and had touchdown rushes of 7 and 2 yards.

The Big Sky honor was the second in as many weeks for Thomson and the third of his career. He also earned STATS FCS National Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in his career.

Medeiros scored 11 points with a pair of field goals and five extra points. The senior made his first field goals of the season with successful attempts of 34 and 32 yards. He also had five touchbacks on nine kickoffs. During the game, the Hilmar, Calif., native became Sacramento State's all-time leader in career extra points as he raised his total of 111 to pass Scott Brown (107).

The Hornets will next play at Cal Poly on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 5 p.m. The team will return home to host Weber State on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 6 p.m.
