    The 2019 Sacramento State football schedule will feature a pair of games against teams which appeared in bowl games and four opponents who qualified for the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs last season. The Hornets, who will be under first year head coach Troy Taylor, will play 12 games for the first time since 2014 with six coming on the home field.

    Sacramento State football will host its 2019 National Signing Day celebration on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Out of Bounds in Folsom, Calif. (13407 Folsom Blvd.). The event, which will begin at 6 p.m. and will feature head coach Troy Taylor and Hornet assistant coaches, is free to the public.
  • FOOTBALL ADDS MARCUS HAWKINS TO 2019 SIGNING CLASS

    The Sacramento State football team continued to add to its 2019 signing class with the addition of Marcus Hawkins. The linebacker becomes the fourth student-athlete to sign a National Letter of Intent with the Hornets this offseason. Hawkins will enroll at Sacramento State for the spring semester and will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.
  • FOUR FOOTBALL PLAYERS RECEIVE NCAA CLOCK EXTENSION

    With less than a month remaining before the second signing period, the 2019 Sacramento State football roster received an added boost as four players were granted clock extensions by the NCAA. The four, who were all listed as seniors in 2018, are comprised of kicker Devon Medeiros, offensive guard Wyatt Ming, defensive end George Obinna and quarterback Kevin Thomson.
  • TAYLOR ANNOUNCES ADDITIONS TO FOOTBALL COACHING STAFF

    Sacramento State head football coach Troy Taylor announced several additions to his staff with the hiring of seven new coaches as well as the retention of two others. On the offensive side of the ball, Taylor will serve as the coordinator and will be joined by Kris Richardson (Assistant Head Coach/offensive line), Bobby Fresques (quarterbacks), Jeremy LaPan (tight ends/special teams) and James Montgomery (running backs). Andy Thompson will lead the other side of the ball as the defensive coordinator and will oversee Will Plemons (defensive line), Allen Brown (cornerbacks) and Sam Cole (safeties). Chris Parry completes the staff as the director of recruiting and player development.

    A day after signing wide receiver Xavier Mason and running back Xavier Ugorji, the Sacramento State football program announced that tight end Charlie McBride has inked a National Letter of Intent. The early period will continue through Dec. 21. Teams can next sign players to National Letters of Intent on Feb. 6.

    The football game between Sacramento State and Northern Arizona, which was originally scheduled for Nov. 10, has officially been cancelled. The game was postponed on Saturday night due to poor air quality caused by the Camp fire north of Sacramento. Both Universities explored options to reschedule the game but could not find a compatible date this late in the season.

The team is 1-2 in the previous three games.
