Coming off a record-setting season in 2017, the Sacramento State football team announced its 2018 schedule which includes five home games and a matchup at San Diego State.

The Hornets will open the year on Sept. 1 against St. Francis (Ill.) in the first meeting between the two schools in program history. Sacramento State will then play on the road for the next three weeks beginning with a Sept. 8 game at San Diego State. The Aztecs are coming off a 10-3 season and an appearance in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl. SDSU becomes the eighth member of the Mountain West Conference the Hornets have faced since 2007.

Sacramento State will play Big Sky Conference teams in its final nine games of the year. The stretch begins with a non-conference matchup at Northern Colorado on Sept. 15. The Hornets will travel to Missoula, Mont., to take on the Grizzlies on Sept. 22 in its league opener.

After a bye, the team returns home for an Oct. 6 contest against longtime rival Cal Poly at Hornet Stadium. The following weekend (Oct. 13) Sacramento State will travel to defending Big Sky co-champion Southern Utah. Last season, the Hornets handed the Thunderbirds their only loss in league play with a 54-27 win.

Back-to-back home games start on Oct. 20 against North Dakota and continue with an Oct. 27 game against Portland State.  The team will then travel to 2017 co-Big Sky Champion Weber State on Nov. 3.

The home finale will take place on Nov. 10 against Northern Arizona. The team will honor its senior class prior to the start of the game. Sacramento State will close the regular season on Nov. 17 with the 65th Causeway Classic at UC Davis.

Game times for the 2018 season will be announced at a later date.
