SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Sacramento State head football coach Jody Sears announced the addition of 17 players to the team's 2018 signing class on Wednesday. The 17 join eight others who signed with the program in the December signing period.

Counting the early signees (read recap here), Sacramento State added 13 players on defense, 10 on offense and a pair of specialists. All but one of the 25 are scheduled to enroll at the University in the fall. The exception is defensive lineman David Perales who joined the team at the start of the semester and will take part in spring ball.

The class also includes four from the greater Sacramento area in defensive lineman Marshaun Hunter (Del Campo HS), defensive back Davion Ross (Inderkum HS), linebacker Fatui Vaivai (San Juan HS) and offensive lineman Brysen Klinefelter (Oak Ridge HS/Sacramento City JC). Along with those four a total of seven commits prepped at schools in the Sac-Joaquin Section.

A two-star recruit from 247Sports…named first team all-Southern Section Div. V…placed on the Ventura County Star's all-area first team…was the Camino League Linebacker of the Year as a senior…rushed for 550 yards and 11 touchdowns…defensive statistics were not available.

A three-star recruit from 247Sports and a two-star honoree by Rivals…was the Daily Republic and the Solano County Athletic League as a senior…also earned second team all-Sac-Joaquin Section from MaxPreps…finished the year with 98 total tackles, including 70 solos…had nine tackles-for-loss with eight sacks…added 11 quarterback hurries, three forced fumbles, an interception and blocked a kick…had five games with 10-plus tackles…was credited with a season-high 16 stops against American Canyon HS and had 15 against Vintage HS…recorded three sacks against Sacramento HS…as a junior, he had 62 tackles with five sacks…had nine tackles against Del Campo HS and Fairfield HS for his season high…also caught five passes during the year for 61 yards and a score.

Named first team all-Southern Section Div. II and first team all-Foothill League as a senior…helped the team to a 12-2 overall record and a berth in the Southern Section Div. II championship game in 2017…Valencia went 5-0 to win the Foothill League and outscored the opposition 263-44…was part of an offensive line which led the way for 258.1 rushing yards per game and 65 touchdowns in 14 games.

A two-star recruit from 247Sports and Rivals…named first team all-area from The Stockton Record…played three seasons of varsity football for St. Mary's HS in Stockton, Calif…accumulated 1,676 yards of total offense as a senior, playing both quarterback and wide receiver…completed 81-of-138 passes for 1,073 yards and 12 touchdowns as a quarterback…also rushed for 548 yard and 13 scores and caught four passes for 55 yards…biggest passing output came against Mater Dei HS where he was 19-of-30 for 263 yards and a touchdown…threw for multiple touchdowns in four games…rushed for 190 yards and two touchdowns against Cardinal Newman HS…during his junior season, he hauled in 62 receptions for 1,092 yards and 14 scores and added three rushing touchdowns…had four games with at least 100 receiving yards…season high was 130 yards against Racy HS and had 118 in the section championship game against Folsom and 126 in the state title game against Cathedral Catholic…scored touchdowns in eight games, including six with two scores…finished his career with 31 touchdowns and 188 points…helped lead the Rams to a berth in the CIF Div. I-AA state championship game as a junior…team won the Sac-Joaquin Section title in 2016, lost in the finals in 2017 and fell in the semifinals in 2015…also played on defense where he had 59 career tackles.

Was the Daily Republic Lineman of the Year and a first team all-area selection on the defensive line following his senior season…was also named first team all-Monticello Empire League…played on both sides of the ball.

Named all-Southern Section Div. IV as a senior and was a two-time first team all-Citrus Belt League selection…posted 136 yards tackles with 21.0 tackles-for-loss in 10 games during his senior season…was credited with at least eight tackles in every game, including 21 against Citrus Valley HS and 20 against Eisenhower  HS…had 6.5 sacks during the year with 3.5 against Cajon HS for his season high…rushed for 219 yards and three touchdowns as a running back…caught 12 passes for 98 yards…finished his career with 212 total tackles with 33 TFLs and 9.5 sacks.

Was a first team all-Big VIII offensive lineman as a senior…averaged four pancake blocks per game…helped lead Centennial to a 10-2 overall record and a 5-0 mark in league games in 2017…team advanced to the Southern Section Div. I semifinals before falling to St. John's Bosco HS…Centennial averaged 267.7 rushing yards per game and 218.1 passing yards per contest.

"Billy comes from a great high school program. He is very athletic and is still not fully developed. He could play end or tackle depending on how he fills out."

Earned all-state and all-Big VIII honors…made 8-of-10 field goals and had touchbacks on 97 percent of his kickoffs…finished the season with 114 points which were the most in school history…as a junior, he made 6-of-9 field goals…tallied 109 points and recorded touchbacks on 78 percent of his kickoffs.

Was limited to just three games as a senior at Santiago HS as a senior…still managed to rush for 308 yards and five touchdowns on just 38 carries…had 147 yards against Centennial HS and 112 against King HS…scored a pair of TDs in both games…caught six passes for 44 yards with a long of 29 during the season…as junior, he rushed for 443 yards on 77 attempts and had five touchdowns in four games…amasses 179 yards and two scores against Citrus Hill HS for his career best…had 117 yards against Vista Murrieta HS…scored a touchdown in all four games.

"We were turned on to Darnay by a coach at another school in his area. He played in just seven games the last two years but has all the tools. He brings speed and size and has shown the ability to catch the ball out of the backfield."

Played the past two seasons at Sacramento City JC where he was coached by former Hornet Dannie Walker…earned all-NorCal Division honors as a freshman and sophomore…City finished 2017 with an 8-3 overall record and a 3-2 record in NorCal Division games…graduated from Oak Ridge HS in 2016…named second team all-Sierra Foothill League and was a team captain.

"Brysen is another local product who did some really good things at Sac City. He was a two-time all-league choice who's a natural leader. He's very tough and will help us on the interior of the line."

Played two seasons at De Anza JC in Cupertino, Calif…was named first team all-Bay 6 Division as a sophomore…graduated from Westmont HS in Campbell, Calif., in 2016…played on the offensive line and also served as a kicker for the Warriors.

Named all-NorCal and firs team all-Bay Valley Athletic League as a senior…tallied 59 total tackles as in 2017…that total included 21 tackles-for-loss and 14.5 sacks…had a tackle in each of the team's games…posted a season high nine stops against Antioch HS and Pittsburg HS…had four sacks against Monte Vista HS and produced 3.5 against Deer Valley HS the week prior…also recovered a pair of fumbles during the year…was a second team all-BVAL selection as a junior…finished his career with 101 total tackles and 22 sacks.

Earned second team all-Bay Valley Athletic League honors as a senior…recorded 37 tackles with 13.0 tackles-for-loss and 8.5 sacks during his final season at Heritage HS…had at least one tackle in all 11 games…was credited with six tackles against Deer Valley HS and Monte Vista HS for his season best…all of his sacks came over the last eight games of the year…had two sacks against Freedom HS and Monte Vista HS…recorded 22 tackles with 8.0 sacks as a junior.

"Both Jett and Jordan bring great size and athleticism. We have them pencilled in to play defensive line but they are so big and athletic they could play several spots for us."

A two-star recruit by Rivals…named firs team all-metro by the Sacramento Bee and all-Sac-Joaquin Section by MaxPreps as a senior…played three seasons of varsity football for Inderkum HS…finished his career with 132 total tackles, 18 interceptions, and 1,186 all-purpose yards…team went 34-5 overall and a perfect 18-0 in league play during his career…rushed for 525 yards and seven touchdowns and added 48 total tackles with six interceptions as a senior…had three games with at least 100 rushing yards, including 111 against River City HS…had 109 rushing yards and a season high two touchdowns against Woodland HS…recorded at least three tackles in all 11 games in which he played…had a season high six tackles against Moreau Catholic, River Valley HS and Del Oro HS…had three interceptions against Moreau Catholic and two against River Valley…as a junior, he made 44 total tackles and had nine interceptions…also rushed for 211 yards and had 132 receiving yards…had two interceptions against El Cerrito HS, River City HS and Moreau Catholic…concluded his sophomore season with 40 tackles and three interceptions.

"A Sacramento guy who's played for a very good program. He played multiple position and exceeded at them all. He has excellent ball skills and had a bunch of interceptions. He has natural cover skills."

A graduate transfer from Prairie View A&M…will have one season of eligibility remaining…served as the Panthers' punter for the last three seasons…earned second team all-SWAC honors as a junior…averaged nearly 40 yards per kick during his career with 15 punts over 50 yards…placed 43 of his 138 career punts inside the opponent 20-yard line and also forced 43 fair catches…had a career long 59-yard punt last season against Southern…was also the team's kicker as a freshman and sophomore…scored 95 points in those two years…will become the first Hornet football player from Australia.

Played several positions at San Juan HS…as a senior he was a running back, defensive end, linebacker and kicker for the Spartans…named second team all-Sierra Delta League as a senior…was coached by former Hornet quarterback Tony Trosin…also played basketball and competed in track & field for SJHS…was the Sierra Delta League co-MVP in track & field as a junior…has won the SDL title in the shot put and discus and also ran the leadoff leg of the 4x100 relay team which finished first.

"Fatui is a local product that we found last spring at San Juan. He is extremely athletic and did just about everything for his team. He has a big ceiling."

Helped lead Tulare Western to a 13-1 overall record and a berth in the NorCal championships game…caught 40 passes for 778 and eight touchdowns despite missing three games during the year…had three games with at least 100 yards, including a season-best 122 and three touchdowns on only three receptions at Dinuba HS in the Central Section championship game …added 114 yards against Serra HS in the NorCal game and 102 against Monache HS…had touchdowns in six different games with two against Monache and Dinuba…caught 16 passes for 194 yards and two scores as a junior.
