    With non-conference games in the rear view, the Sacramento State football team will begin Big Sky Conference play on Saturday, Sept. 23, against Southern Utah. The game will kick off at 6:05 p.m. and will serve as the annual Green Day where different campus and local organizations will showcase what they are doing in helping environmental issues.

    Following a convincing win over Incarnate Word in the home opener, the Sacramento State football team will continue its homestand when it takes on Weber State on Saturday, Sept. 16, at 6 p.m. The game will also serve as Wing Stop Kids Day with kids 12 and under receiving a free ticket for every adult purchase. The contest will also feature Chick-fil-A Mascot Madness and the first 1,000 kids will receive a complimentary water bottle.

    The honors are pouring in today for Sacramento State’s Dre Terrell. The cornerback earned national FCS defensive player of the week honors from both STATS, Inc., as well as College Football Performance Awards. Terrell was also named the Big Sky Conference Defensive Player of the Week.

    Three Sacramento State quarterbacks combined to throw for 377 yards and account for six touchdowns and the Hornets forced five turnovers in a 56-22 victory over Incarnate Word on Saturday in the home opener at Hornet Stadium.

    Fans attending Hornet football games will have a new option as Sacramento State announced that a beer garden will be in place at Hornet Stadium. The area, which will be set up south of Gate 4 (near the Broad Athletic Center), will feature both domestic and craft brews and will also have a view of action on the field.

    Sacramento State senior Ben Sorensen was named to the Preseason All-Big Sky football team, it was announced today. Sorensen was one of two defensive ends chosen to the team and one of 12 defensive players to earn preseason all-conference honors.
