The Hornets rallied in the final two minutes, driving to the UNC 10-yard line but quarterback Nate Ketteringham was brought down after a lengthy scramble.

    FOOTBALL FALLS TO #24 NORTH DAKOTA IN HOMECOMING GAME The Sacramento State football team had its Homecoming spoiled as 24th-ranked North Dakota rushed for 422 yards and five touchdowns on the way to a 40-7 victory at Hornet Stadium on Saturday night. The victory improved the Fighting Hawks to 4-2 overall and 3-0 in the Big Sky Conference. The Hornet dropped to 1-5 overall and 1-2 in league action.

    FOOTBALL FACES NORTH DAKOTA IN HOMECOMING GAME ON SATURDAY The Sacramento State football team will look to build off its dramatic victory over Montana State when it hosts No. 24/21 North Dakota on Saturday, Oct. 8, at Hornet Stadium. The game will kick off from Hornet Stadium at 6 p.m. and will also serve as the University’s Homecoming. The game will kickoff from Elizabeth Dee Shaw Stewart Stadium at 5 p.m. PDT. Sacramento State will be playing in Ogden, Utah for the second year in a row and the third time in four seasons. The Wildcats will come to Sacramento in 2017 in the fourth and final non-conference meeting in the series.

The Hornets opened the year with a 38-30 loss to Western Oregon. WOU took advantage of an early turnover which led to a touchdown and a 74-yard punt return for a score to build a 14-0 lead and held off a late surge from the Hornets.

    SANKEY SIGNS FREE AGENT DEAL WITH BRONCOS The waiting process for former Sacramento State All-American linebacker Darnell Sankey was almost as painful as the ankle injury that derailed his NFL draft dreams last December. That wait is now over as Sankey signed as a free agent with the Denver Broncos on Tuesday and immediately reported to the team’s training camp.
