OGDEN, Utah — Three weeks after stealing national headlines with his game-winning field goal at Colorado,
Castaneda was named the Big Sky Conference Special Teams Player of the Week and was the College Football Performance Awards' National Placekicker of the Week following his performance at Idaho State. Against the Bengals, the junior was a perfect 4-for-4 on field goals and 6-of-6 on extra points to account for 18 of the team's 54 points.
Castaneda was successful on field goal tries of 41 and 25 yards in the second quarter and 38 and 50 yards in the fourth quarter. His four field goals tied the school record which was shared by and Bret LeVier. His 50-yarder was a career best and is tied for fifth in program history.
This season, Castaneda has made 9-of-11 field goal attempts and is 15-of-17 on PATs. He currently leads the Big Sky and is tied for fourth in the FCS with 1.80 field goals per game. has once again earned notoriety, earning ROOT SPORTS Big Sky and Football Championship Subdivision honors.
