Former Hornet infielder Jason Hampton serves as Director of Baseball Operations for the 2014 season as he finishes up his degree.
Hampton pinch-hit in six games and pitched in one game in 2013, going 2-for-7 (.286) with three RBI and one run and pitching vs. CSU Bakersfield in the WAC Tournament. He went 1-for-5 at the plate as a sophomore and made 12 pitching appearances with two starts as a freshman, striking out 14 in 19.2 innings.
Hampton was a 47th round draft pick of the Cincinnati Reds coming out of high school in 2009. He was a four year letterwinner at Rocklin HS and earned first team all-metro honors from the Sacramento Bee as a senior. During his final collegiate season Hampton hit .373 with four home runs and 41 RBIs and collected six wins and four saves on the mound, leading his team to the Sac-Joaquin section Division II title while earning first team all-Sierra Foothill League honors.
