SECAUCUS, N.J. - High school senior Eli Saul, one of Sacramento State baseball's National Letter of Intent signees, was selected yesterday in the final day of the 2019 MLB Draft.
Saul, a right-hander pitcher out of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, was selected by the Texas Rangers in the 29th round (865th overall) of the 2019 MLB Draft. He was one of six players to sign an NLI to play baseball at Sacramento State in November of last year.
Standing at 6'5", Saul is the top ranked player in British Columbia's Class of 2019, according to Prep Baseball Report. He plays for the UBC Thunderbirds and was named to the 2019 Canadian Junior National Team last year. He is the first player to be drafted directly from the UBC Thunder PBL program.
