SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State baseball team will host its sixth annual Diamond Dinner on Friday, January 22, at 5:30 p.m. The event will once again be held at the Scottish Rite Masonic Temple on 6151 H Street, located just across the street from the north entrance to the Sacramento State campus.
"I always get excited for the Diamond Dinner," Sacramento State head coach Reggie Christiansen said. "It is a great way to kick off our season and it's a unique opportunity for our fans, donors and parents to get to know our players as well as help us raise additional funds for special projects."
Proceeds from the event will directly benefit the baseball program, such as upgrades to the playing field. The evening will be emceed by local radio personality and Sacramento State broadcaster Nate Goodyear with catering by BJ's Restaurant. It will also feature live and silent auctions, with doors open at 5:30 p.m. for a preview of auction items.
The Diamond Dinner gives fans and supporters a chance to hear from the team, including its 12 newcomers for 2016, and show their support. Sacramento State has won the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) title in two of the last four seasons and opens the 2016 season with road series at SEC schools Auburn and LSU. The home opener for the Hornets will be March 4 vs. South Dakota State at John Smith Field.
