Tod Bannister was hired as the Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs in February of 2013. In his current role, he will oversee the Hornet Club as well as the marketing and promotions and ticket offices.

Bannister came to Sacramento State after serving as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for External Relations at San Jose State. While at SJSU, his responsibilities included working on the capital campaign for the Spartan Stadium North Endzone Project, overseeing ticket operations, marketing and promotions, and coordinating revenue projects with Spartan Sports Properties and Learfield Sports.

A veteran of Div. I intercollegiate athletics, Bannister also produced meaningful results at the University of the Pacific, the University of California and UCLA.

In his one year at UCLA, he was the director of the Wooden Athletic Fund, named after the legendary basketball coach. He was responsible for the Fund's annual operating strategy within the context of the athletics department's and University's fundraising strategic plans.

Prior to UCLA, Bannister worked at the University of California, Berkeley as the Executive Director of the Bear Backers for three years. He continually set records for annual dollars raised and worked with the California Alumni Association to generate over 510 new Bear Backer members within a two-month frame. Bannister also assisted in organizing and planning the Cal Coaches Tour to generate new Bear Backers each year.

Bannister went to Cal after spending a year as the Assistant Athletics Director of External Affairs at the University of the Pacific. He was the executive director of the Pacific Tigers Athletics Association, the chief fund raising arm of Pacific athletics, where he was responsible for directing the annual fund drive, maintaining relationships with PTAA members and coordinating special events. Bannister also oversaw the marketing and ticketing operations and supervised four sports.

Prior to entering the fundraising field, Bannister spent six years as an assistant basketball coach at Pacific with the men's and women's programs. He was a color analyst for the Pacific Tigers men's basketball broadcasts and one year as the co-host of the Cal Bears Basketball post game show.

Bannister earned his bachelor's degree from Sacramento State in 1986.
