GREEN ARMY SURPASSES 3000 MEMBERS IN FIRST YEAR

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Green Army has grown and it wants to have a party.

The first-year student organization recently surpassed the 3,000-member mark and plans on celebrating during the upcoming week. At last count, 3,171 have registered to become members of the Green Army and help increase student support at Sacramento State intercollegiate athletic events.

As part of the celebration, two new Green Army t-shirts have been created to recognize the accomplishment. The shirts will be on sale at the Hornet Bookstore throughout the rest of the semester.

The Green Army will also hold several events during the week. Beginning on Thursday, April 21, when the Hornet baseball team will take on nationally-ranked Fresno State. Green Army members will be treated to a barbaque and will also be eligible for an iPod giveaway. The group will also be giving away 50 tickets to the Sacramento River Cats game for May 5 — which is Sacramento State night.

On Friday, April 22, the Green Army will be in attendance for the softball doubleheader against Loyola Marymount. The first game gets under way at noon and the afternoon will mark the home season finale.

The final day of the celebration week will come on Saturday with a pair of events. Rowing gets things going with its annual dual against UC Davis at Lake Natoma at 8:30 a.m. Football will then hold its spring game at Hornet Stadium at 10 a.m.
