SACRAMENTO, Calif. - The Sacramento State athletics department has added D.J. Giumento as its Associate Athletics Director for Operations, it was announced today by Director of Athletics Bill Macriss.
"We believe that D.J. will be a great fit for our staff," Macriss said. "He brings a great deal of experience, not only in event management, but also in the CSU system. He's been able to accomplish a lot in a short time during his career and will have the opportunity to do more at Sacramento State."
Giumento comes to Sacramento State from Boise State, where he served as the Assistant Athletic Director for Facility Operations the last three years. With the Hornets, Giumento will oversee all game operations and staff and all athletics facilities on campus.
"I am very excited for this opportunity at Sacramento State. Everyone that works here wears a lot of different hats and does whatever it takes to get things done and that makes it a very attractive place to be," Giumento said. "There are many opportunities to grow here and I want to thank Bill Macriss, Lois Mattice and the hiring committee for this opportunity."
Giumento was tasked with oversight and administration for all operations of 12 athletics facilities and staff in his time with Boise State. Prior to joining the Broncos, Giumento was the Director of Events and Event and Facility Coordinator for three years at fellow CSU member Fresno State. He also has previous work experience on the operations crew at INTRUST Bank Arena and as an Event and Facility Management Graduate Assistant at the University of Kansas.
A native of Indiana, Giumento earned a bachelor's degree in Sport Administration from Wichita State in 2008 and a master's in Sport Management from Kansas in 2009.
